THIS IS MY 'RIDE' REPORT...after an unfortunate start, where I found myself lined up behind all the 2 hour competitors AFTER the 4 hour had started, I was already a minute or so down by the time I was up and pedalling!!! Having established myself at the back of the pack I preceded to remain there for the duration!!
That said I really enjoyed the course, plenty of variety - The Beast was great (Home Run was a drag though), Double Shocker became harder with every lap and Rear Hanger was just a joy everytime - I made sure I savoured each and every time I descended that section.
The heat patch on my back worked a treat, as did the Deep Heat on my hamstrings and the Sudocrem (if you know what I mean!!). No mechanicals to report, no mud either! Although I had quite a few comedy dismounts being clipped in and not having enough momentum to get up the bombholes - still I don't think I held anyone up and there was plenty of passing concern for my wellbeing!!
In all I managed 5 laps (approx. 35 miles) in 4 hours 4 mins - although I would have liked to have had the ooomph to have got through sub-4 hours to do a 6th lap - 47th place out of 70, a few better than last time.
Round 3 is on Feb 11th.
