14-15th April exposure big night out and merida spring marathon Builth Wells

Not sure about 2 on consecutive days but fancy the night one.

3rd June Rough Ride - lovely moorland marathon.

Yes

24-26 june SSMM 24 hr either as a team or joining another team via drop outs, its one of the highlights of the year.

Yes

some time in July a welsh weekend

Went the whole of last year without a Wales trip! Personally I blame that alaric bloke for buggering off to Greece and not oraginsing the usual CYB trips.

11-12 august SITS 24 hour - I know the early Bernies are planning to go to this as well

Definitely

6-7th October Dusk till Dawn Thetford really enjoyable last yaer - might even do it solo this year

Definitely (not solo thouhg)

Ok so thats they year planned now I just need to stop been a lazy slob, shed a few stone and get out on the bike.

Jan 7th - SPAM, Salisbury Plain enduro -50km

Jan 14th - Thetford winter series rnd 2 (managed a sad 51st place in the first round - but i'm calling it a marker and hope to do better Very Happy )

Feb 11th - Thetford winter series rnd 3

March 25th - Black Park races, WDMBC

maybe some Evans Trail Break rides

some 100km-150km audax events tba

June 3rd - either Rough Ride or Bucks 100km Off-road classic (very hard, 2500 to 3000 metres of climbing - took 7hrs 19mins last year, so again something to beat)

July 14th/15th - Bontrager 24/12, maybe in the 24 hour (hoping to have 2 teams in this time round, mostly guys I ride with from Epping Hard Cru, with at least one, Matt C, doing the solo - he was 5th last year!!)

would quite like to enter other 12/24 events as a pair of 4's

I quite fancy doing as many a possible this year (having never taken part in anything more than a Trail Break ride before!), especially towards the end of the summer/early autumn, to celebrate (?) my turning 40 around that time!!

If I thought I was anywhere near fit/skilled enough, I'd have entered the Merida Trans-Scotland jobby but I fear that it will kill/cripple/skint me!!

I like the sound of either the Rough Ride or Bucks 100km at the start of June,
weekends in Wales, possible long weekend in Scotland and a week away somewhere warm and sunny (Greece or Southern Spain?).

Something that will push me to my limits (and maybe a little beyond) without putting me in a hospital/wooden box!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A MUDDY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!

as crazy as this sounds my long term aim is to do the TransRockies (hopefully in 2008/9) having watched the videos on it during my recuperation from my broken shoulder - i turn 40 in feb so will enter the veterans category, and might look to do TransWales in 2008 as a taster

Very Happy

Crazy idea, Hamish, but as we both do the '40' thang this year, what do you think to doing the TransScotland (or something less intense if you prefer!!) as a two-man team, assuming that I can reach the required level of fitness?
Shocked

The only problem I see with that idea is that you've met me and would be forgiven for not wanting to attempt something like that, relying on an old, bald, overweight, wuss-on-a-bike as company/backup!! Embarassed

But if you are as mad as I am, and think that I may be up to it, let me know.................. Wink

Caz,

Last night's beer and fog must have seeped into my brain and eyes because I read your "I turn 30 this year too" as "I turn 40 this year too" which is obviously ridiculous!! Shocked

Good luck with the healing! Hopefully we'll have a full complement of riders out again in the New Year?

MERRY TRAILMAS AND A MUDDY NEW YEAR TO ALL THE EPICS!! Very Happy
