just picked up a 3w luxeon led torch from maplins 19.95
thought if I attached it to my helmet it would be a good complement to my bar mounted lights for twisty thetford singletrack.
I have just tested them in my garden and reckon you could use it as a pretty good night light on its own!
it's not rechargeable - uses lithium c123 batteries but for that price I think it is a real bargain.
I am about to go for a spin and will give a further assesment later.

Right I'm back - and I must say
THIS TORCH IS A REAL BARGAIN!
Gives a really strong beam, much stronger than my exposure lights !
you could use it as your only light but the spread is not really wide enough to be absolutely comfortable, I think one of these on your helmet and a cheapish set of bar lights ( smartlights for example) and you would be double sorted. No need to worry about getting cast into shadow by the rider behind.
Just got to track down a cheap supply of cr123 batteries now. _________________ it's all good in the wood! |

| If you can give me more spec on the batteries I may be able to source thru one of my suppliers. |

I don't have experience with them but apparently rechargeable Li-Ion batteries are available in CR-123 size, eg http://www.gmkbatteries.co.uk/uni...-rechargeable-battery-p-1275.html |

Yes I have seen them - but they only hold 600mAh
I did see a thread on stw where someone had wired one to a battery pack.
For now though I will order some cr123's at trade prices and maybe by another one that I can destroy with experimentation _________________ it's all good in the wood! |
