Hi there,
I am new to both this forum and to riding in Epping Forest.
I was just wondering how busy does Epping Forest actually get at weekends?
Thanks,
DM

hello.
i wouldn't say the forest got too congested of a weekend.
if it's a sunny day there are loads of cannondale owners (sorry lefty- )
cleaning their bikes, and little else, at high beach car park. you may pass a horse or three, very rarely do walkers get in the way.
parts of the lakes are much worse.

Senor,
Thanks for that. I just thought because of it's proximity to London it may become pretty full at weekends. I also thought that it may be a bit of a chav drinking haunt.
I need to venture up there and have a scout about me and my Orange P7 may be a bit out of place amongst the "Dale" riders tho |

Senor,
Why thank you, Yes Oranges are juicy! And still a little different from the norm.
I hope that it takes to Epping although I may use my even less fashionable Merlin Malt4 for the scouting mission.

donnie,
if you haven't ridden in epping before ,by all means have an explore on your own.
However, if you were to meet up with Mick and co you will enjoy it so much more.I spent about six months doing my own head in , going round in circles before i saw the light, well a link to this website actually.
there is more singletrack than you can shake a stick at but some of it is not instantly recognisable.
The visitor center at high beech sells decent maps of the forest, plus, take a compass as it can get a little blair witch at times.

Thanks again Senor,
I will probaly go and have a look first then ask if I can invite myself along.
I too found this site through another WhatMTB forum for me.
I have been cycling up that way for nearly two years and still never got around to going to Epping.
For me it is only about 8-9 miles from my house along the Lea and Stort. But another world away in location terms.
I spend most weekends out of London riding but I intend to go up to Epping next time I have a weekend there.
Cheers, |
