Hi all.

I've only just joined having resigned myself to not getting anyone to ride with tomorrow. Posted on BikeMagic and What MB forums to ask if anyone knew other riders to link up with in my area (NW London) and heard nothing til a little while ago, when you guys were suggested.

I know that it's a bit late and most of you are already probably asleep for tomorrow, but would it be OK to come along? I can be at the Bike Shed for 8am if that's OK?

I am not the youngest or quickest and certainly not the bravest downhill but I'll attack most climbs with gusto!! I am just getting back into the swing after a big stack kept me off the bike for 5 weeks so fitness is a bit lacking, too.

Please let me know if that's fine (if anyone is still awake!!)

All,

Fab ride today... so much sweet singletrack it was unreal. I am however shreded by the holly and have been finding thorns in 'unusual' places... well worth it however.

Cheers to everyone for being so friendy and showing us some superb routes. Loved it and I will be back for more.

Sounds like you guys are all are having some great races and weekend rides. I made it home with my bike but haven't been offroad yet due to cold weather and rain - I know, I've gone soft. Should I keep reading this forum? It makes me miss riding in the UK. Crying or Very sad

Hi there Leon. How are things down under? We are getting out and about quite a lot and seem to be getting better (dunno it that's at gassing or riding, but we're having a lot of fun). I finally got to Beastway as you may have read and Pete's hopefully going to join us this week, if he doesn't kill himself in the meantime (careering down Pole Hill, with no witnesses. That's just pure attention seeking behaviour).

We miss you. Most of the riders are full sussers, so I am a lone voice in the wilderness for the hard tails and not a rigid frame in sight since Jel's gone. Tel us about mountain biking in Oz and don't give the 'its' too cold and wet' malarky? In Australia????

Thanks again for the ride last Sunday (16th), I am glad that I caught up with you at the pub, eating fast food and cake. It's good to know that you don't take this fitness thing tooooo seriously!! Laughing

I would love to join you again this weekend but have a couple of possible problems:

a) my girlfriend is unwell and unable to leave the flat for a few days, so I'll have to keep spoiling her so I can get away without being a git Confused

b) the root of the creaking noise that was eminating from my Kula on Sunday has been discovered - I happened to look at the bike on Wed night and noticed that the three-rides-old seatpost was somewhat less straight than is considered ideal! Shocked

Having had the frame 2 weeks I was unaware of the difficulty in finding a 27.0mm post but have ordered one from Merlin which SHOULD arrive tomorrow (Sat), if not waiting for me when I get home this evening.

If I can be nice enough to get past problem A and lucky enough to receive my post, overcoming problem B, then I will hopefully be out, most likely on Sunday again.
This time I will make a real effort to meet you all at the Bike Shed at 10am.

Thanks again for last Sunday and Cazz, you're not the only hardtail, what about Keith and I on our Konas? Cool

Leon! What is life without the reportage king? The least you could do is show us some of your pics of the turf in Aus. I'll try to take some pics today and put them up somehow. And Deb, couldn't get out last night...bbq with the family. All the best and see you and Leon in the forest soon!
