Disappointingly my bike was stolen a couple of weeks ago so I won't be able to ride for a while...it's quite upsetting having to take the tube places, especially now the weather's getting better. Thankfully though some kind folk have given me an old Gary Fisher Sugar frame, some bars, a stem, some new pedals, grips, chainset and shifters, all for free!! So i'll hopefully be up and running in time for when the forest is dry enough to ride...all i need now is wheels, and brakes, the most expensive parts it seems!

Hi Oliver,
Sory to hear about bike theft, how was it done, so we can all be aware, was it security marked and do you have the frame number?
Maybe its a bad time, but when you get your replacement don't forget I still might have a bike bag for sale.
All the best, Mike. |

Hi Mike,
no it was neither security marked nor did I record the serial number - i'm a fool, i'd struggle to prove it mine if it ever does turn up!
It was taken from the courtyard of a studio complex on Kingsland road, just south of Dalston...the thief somehow got through the two coded entrances and managed to spend a little time sawing through two locks (cable, all frayed) all under the watchful eye of two CCTV cameras. Sadly the CCTV offers only an image of a man in a black puffa jacket with a hood up - very inconsiderate of him not to look at the camera!
My advice is not to lock your bike and leave it anywhere, no matter how safe you think it is, or possibly don't own anything, ever, as it'll probably be nicked.

I know the feeling buddy, I had both mine and my girlfriends bikes stolen last year from my locked garage with Kryptonite chains!
I now have to keep my bikes in my house. Its sounds as though you have all the same stuff I would have helped you out with.
I wish you luck with the bikes being recovered however unlikely that is unfortunately. But I might be buying a new bike next week and if that is the case then you will be welcome to use my other bike until I manage to sell it.
Cheers
