I can't believe I've not rode my mountain bike since September last year when I done some rides with the American girl Jilayne before she went home. My god, that's seven months ago. I looked at my bike yesterday covered in dust with two semi flat tyres. I thought about riding up to High Beach and back from Pole Hill, but I just can't find the motivation to get out and ride, especially knowing how hard it's going to be getting back in the saddle. I did pump the tyres up though
HELP

Hello Robo.
You know what you have to do!.....
....get on it as soon as possible.
If you make an effort in May,
then you will enjoy the rest of the "summer" far more.
The first couple of rides will be slow ,
but with the state of the forest who isn't!
This weekend is a perfect opportunity .
go on go on go on etc etc.

the HORROR!! dusty mtn bike, all neglected and dejected in lieu of that shiny new dirt bike, eh? I've even ridden my mtn bike since last September and that's considering I didn't have access to it until I got back in December and then there was that small detail called snow for a bit! (Although I have ridden much and I'm sorely out of shape.)
GET OUT AND RIDE!!!
(that's about all the help I can offer)

Hey Jilayne, How are you? All good I hope.
Well I've managed to get out. I rode last Sunday for the first time. Started at the place where I treated you to lunch (Chingford Golf Club by Chingford Plaines) and rode out all through the single track, looping back and forth. Stopped at Carls tea hut. for tea and CAKE. then continued on out to Old Orleans roundabout through more single track. Then jumped on the road out to Thornwood Common to see some friends riding Motocross. Then OH MY GOD My Ass had gone numb, well actually, I wish it was numb, then I couldn't have felt it. The bone just under my ass where you sit in the saddle, OOOOOOooooooouch. Anyway, headed back home on the road out of the saddle most of the way, just spending a few moments in the saddle to try to adjust to the pain. Got back to Old Orleans then jumped into the single track all the way back to the Motor Bikers tea hut, stopped for a roll and tea. Then the final epic back to Pole Hill, fortunately, down Pole Hill and not up it.
Well over done my first ride back clocking up 36 miles.
Rode Monday too, but could only manage a gentle spin/recovery type ride. Still, I was happy with 10 miles in 50 minutes.
Rested Tuesday, re-phrase, completely ZONKED Tuesday, had no choice, body wouldn't allow anything other than sleep.
Rode Motocross Wednesday, done 2 hours 25 of MX, which I was well pleased with, especially in the heat we had yesterday. Was so glad of that gorgeous breeze too.
If the rain doesn't come today, I may try a gentle ride up to High Beech and back, but as I'm typing this, it's already raining here. |
