Riding Sat/Sun 17/18 Nov.

Suprised to still be riding in the forest so late in the year, the ground is still relatively dry, not for much longer I'm sure. Just made my mind up to get as many weekend rides in as possible, will try to keep to the new formula of Sat being as fast as furious as my tired old body can take, with Sunday being geared to the abilities of the riders who turn up with the emphesis of not loosing anybody. To all of you who have not been recently , it would nice to see you on a ride before the weather closes in. On that note, it looks like the weather on Sat is going to be OK dry/cold, Sunday looks dodgy, we will just have to wait and see. Also now Alaric & Em are back in the UK after the season in Greece maybe they will join us on one of the weekend rides. For those who may be interested on a fast ride out from South Woodford to High Beech along our full route takes 90mins, return 60 mins. We also now add on a loop into Loughton which is not added to these times.

I am hoping to make it to what is too rapidly becoming my monthly (if that!) visit to the Forest on Saturday! Staying with friends much closer to the Forest than my house on Friday night so should be there before everyone has gone, this time! Embarassed

Will text/call you Mick when I am on my way just so you know. Will aim to meet you at the ex-Bike Shed about 9:50am. Smile

Looking forward to a good blast around the trails Very Happy , before the rains descend Sad ,

Wanna get out for Saturday...probably be lagging behind due to riding to work wiping me out...not to worry though I'm sure I won't get lost...hopefully catch up Saturday.

Re Suday

Weather forecast for sunday shows rain and low temperatures, plus windy, so it looks like this weekend will only be a Saturday ride, at least for me. I knew the conditions would not last. So this might be the last decent ride this year so come and join us for a fast & furious (in moderation).

not sure if you check this before leaving the house in the morning, but I'm on my way as well!

You just couldn't keep away, could you!!

Thanks for a good ride today (apart from my bike problems!) and was good to meet Jilayne and Noel for the first time too. Down side was that I had to meet Pete again but I suppose there has to be a trade-off..... Wink

You'll be glad to know that I pulled 2 more thorns and a glass shard out of my rear tyre so had to fix the slime tube. It gave me more chance of surviving the ride back than the 35mm tube (in 2.3 Verts! Confused ).

The problem then became that I had limited patches and my glue seemed to find it impossible in the cold to dry enough to actually hold the patches on....

I eventually got going again at about 3pm (!!!!) after also noticing that my rear mech was working loose Shocked and doing that up properly too.

The route home was a case of '5 minutes riding, 3 minutes pumping up' until I got back to the car, at about 4pm. And no, I did not have any lights!!

Anyway, hopefully I'll catch up again before I head off to Derby (before Christmas, with luck).

And be mechanical/puncture free!

P.S. I'm using the fact that I did not notice my rear flat as an excuse for riding so poorly today! Razz Cool

Re Saturdays ride,

Thanks for everybody who turned up for todays ride, it will propably turn out to be the last decent ride of the year condition wise, and I quite enjoyed the fast pace, outward leg not taking much over the 90 mins, sory to say it Gary, you just should not have mentioned how good slime was in your tyres for preventing punctures. Glad you got home O.K. eventualy, shame you missed the ride back ,again fast & furious 60 mins back to Waterwoks roundabout having also aquired an additinal rider (John) hope to see you again. Everybody still up for it so finnished with a pacy Snaresbrook Swoosh. Glad to report no major wipeouts, except for Noel forgetting he was clipped in when he slowed up and smelly engine manging to wipe out avoiding going over a log jump.
Will not be riding this Sunday 18/11/07.

Twas indeed a good fast ride...yeah and sorry Gary about the tyre woes. At least now I can go back and get all those drawing pins I accidentally dropped in the forest...Still perhaps my stuffed neck is down to Karma after all. Good ride guys and gals..
Bigguy

Yip, it was a good ride.
Thanks guys and girl.

Hi Boys,

I was away and am just getting caught up on the forum now.

Great ride - that was super fun. So glad I got out, as my schedule is getting slammed, plus the weather factor. (Mick - did you get out this past weekend? How were the conditions?) Haven't ridden since then Sad

(and, Pete, my bike never did get cleaned either... still sitting on balcony all muddy... oops!)

Cheers,
Jilayne
