Another forum noob!Afternoon all,
Happily found this forum while wasting time at work (did I say that?) and am pleased I did.
I used to live in Rainham, Essex and rode Epping almost every weekend from 1996 to 1999, doing High Beach to Wanstead and a pretty sweet loop back to Loughton Golf Club. God Bless Carl's maps!
Moved now to Wickford and don't get to Epping as much as I'd like due to riding buddies moving away, home commitments etc.. Mainly ride there a few times a year now, in the better weather. Used to love hitting the steep tree roots to the right of Loughton Camp and, having just treated myself to a nice Trek Fuel EX9, I'm gagging to hit them again.
I do quite a bit of riding at Thetford, Brandon and Danbury for a quick blast but have to be a bit careful due to an old knee problem. Must admit, it's been a while since I last rode Epping but from what I've read on here, things don't seem to have changed much!
Definitely got to get down there before we see the last of the Summer.
Well, that's me. Maybe I'll see some of you at Carl's...
Cheers

EX9, nice bike!
I'm not far from you, Ockendon, and I ride every Sunday with the EHC from Carls. Oh, and occasionally over Thorndon country park.
I believe the Epics start out from the other end of the forest.

hello buckle
I live in Danbury so if you ever fancy a ride out here let me know.
nightriding time is upon us which makes it extra sweet
Mikes 10am rides from South Woodford are worth doing, they are always considerate to slower riders

Cheers Guys.
@GTDave - What's Thorndon like? I always thought it was pretty flat. Have you tried Langdon Hills or Hadleigh Castle at all?
@tonto - Danbury if great for a blast. Not sure about the big bomb hole bit tho. Snapped my Indy SL forks there in Feb hence the new bike. Don't know if I'd try it at night. Got to say - Tea on the Green is great for toasties and cake!

I agree most of the bomholes are a bit too hardcore for nightriding
normally do Lingwood, Blakes wood, heather wood, pheasanthouse wood etc on a night ride, a good 2 hour loop. Let me know if you fancy it.
a few of the Epping locals are coming up on Sunday week (23rd) for a morning ride again you are welcome to join us.

Thanks for the invite but I'm still paying back the brownie points after getting the bike!
I'll keep looking in here and PM you maybe to hook up one weekend.

Thorndon is fine, much like a smaller Epping.
It's not totally flat and has some good bursts of singletrack weaving through it. Tends to drain better than Epping after a downpour too due to it being on a hill.
Not tried the others though as Epping is so much fun!

Well, so far, I've not ridden it 'properly' but what I have done, I'm mightily impressed with it. I must point out that it's the '07 and not the '08 model tho. Still a very nice bike - quite a head turner which can sometimes be a worry!
Handling is so much more responsive than my old GF Joshua (God rest his soul) and components are all Bonty Race Lite. Sweet. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
