Women MTBRs for informal rides in Epping Forest -wk & w/

Am hoping to find other women interested in fitness and MTBing in Epping Forest. Age doesn't matter:- from 18 – 60.

I was a regular rider with the Epping Forest Mountain Bike club on their Sunday rides and went on away weekends and even did a few races. But that was over 10 years ago. Truth is there is no way now I could - or anyway would want to - go out on those rides again which were (and I imagine still are) fast and furious.

So am hoping to find some women to set up an informal group for rides. Even if there were just a few it would still be good to make contact with other like minded women for casual rides during the week or at weekends in Epping Forest.

It would be great if you are out there! Solo riding is good for fitness but the enjoyment and safety of cycling with company makes it a whole lot more fun.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Elly,
I'd be keen to come out with you. I'm actually based in South London, but trying to get out and ride all over the place! I' m off to Mayhem next weekend, but maybe the weekend after? Can't do mid week unfortunately!
Cheers

Sarah that is Excellent!
Am planning to meet for a ride on Tuesday with DirtDiva so am really glad found this site.
Have made a note then for the weekend of Sat/Sun 30 June. Will send you this message plus my contact details to your profile. Let me know if it doesnt reach you for any reason.
By the way, it must have passed me by because havent been doing any serious riding for a while but what is Mayhem? Did go to the Malverns weekends with EFMBc about 3 years running and raced there once - is it the same kind of thing?
Looking forward to hearing from you on my email
Regards, Elly

Hi Elly,

I am very interested in getting into mountain biking, my boyfriend bought me a bike last year but have not been able to get into it. I am very unfit but very keen, if you are still interested in getting a riding group together.

Mountain bike group Social Rides in Epping Forest age 35+

Hi Nikki
Since I last posted information now have 27 riders registered to ride with our group. We've been out on 4 Saturday rides (our regular weekly ride day). Tonight (Thursday 26 July) is our 4th 'after work' ride too. We meet on different evenings during the week at 7pm. However, the age is 35+ and am pretty much sticking to that.

I get the feeling you might be on the younger side but you can still contact me - I have a few women in their 20s and could put you in touch with each other. Anyone reading this who wants to know more is welcome to contact me at:-
info@EppingForestSocialMountainBikers.co.uk
and I can tell you more about it.
Kind regards, Elly
Noodle

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes I am younger than 35.
Emily

I wish I was back in London, just so I could show you the joys of Epping Forest, Noodle.

Maybe when I'm back over the Winter, I'll organise something - hopefully on a crisp cool (non-muddy) day. The mud does make you/keep you fit though!

I can heartily recommend a trip to Bedgebury Forest. It has some lovely trails. If Mike (Mick the Greek) makes another plan to head over there, tag along...

Take care and happy biking!!

Emily

I just noticed I am too young for Elly's rides too!
woo

too young?

Hey noodle I'm too young for Elly's group too and doubt I'd be fast enough to keep up with the 'youngsters' group so if you fancy going out one weekend let me know I'd be up for that. I need to improve my fitness and can show you what I know of the forest.

that's open to anyone else interested Very Happy
Noodle

Sounds great Woo,

Would you like to meet this weekend? I am available Sat or Sun.
Emily

Excellent!
I'm glad you guys are getting together - have fun!
Epping Forest really is an excellent fun place to ride bikes.

Hiya, I'm curios to know why you nearly doubled the minimum age.

Anyway I told my ex-wife about your rides, and she is keen to meet up and ride with you girls at some stage, but she doesn't have access to a computor. I'll PM her number to you, it'd be really nice of you if you give her a call. I'll double check with her first.

Cheers.
Rob.
Lukeee

Not that my opinion matters.

But i'm with robo , Whats the deal with having a miniumum age?
Bigguy

Yip, I agree.

Who needs Ellystar anyway! You can come ride with me anytime Noodle!
Beth

Hello!

I'm also under the min age limit and looking for new buddies to ride with - would be really nice to get to know some women who ride - all my female friends think it's madness and I can't convince them otherwise!

Would anyone be interested in meeting up at Epping one weekend?
GTDave

Both the Epics and us, <deep breath> the Epping Hard-Cru (bunch of softies Laughing ) regularly ride Epping on Sundays.
The epics start down the southern end of the forest, and the 'cru' from High Beach (albeit an early 8:30-9)
Although our 'cru' only has at present 1 female rider, we are all big girls at times! Laughing
Try both groups out, see how you get on!
Beth

Thanks Dave!

I'd seen the Hard Cru's site but wasn't sure I would be able to keep up! How crazy are you guys? Going out with the Epics this Sun but would also like to come and ride with the Hard Cru too...maybe next week!

We now have 2 fairly fulltime female members , Ellen and Sarah. The Epping Hard Cru name is completely tongue in cheek. Were a pretty mixed bunch of riders(which is why i love riding with the Cru).

We are a stupidly relaxed riding group! It'd be cool to see you out on the trails soon beth!

Oh I see...poaching now are we??? Your site not good enough eh?

Luke, are you and the Guys up for the Surrey Hills on Sunday? Or are you about on Saturday at Epping? Cool
GTDave

Sunday = Epping dude!
The BIG GT

Dave,

I've already set "Saturday = Epping", "Sunday = Surrey Hills" for my "Final 30-something Rides" weekend!

If I get to High Beach early enough I'll pop over for a chat but, if I have a few noobs with me and get there a bit later, you guys will probably already have gone home (crazy-early starters... Shocked )

Go on, Ninja Steve must have told you how good the Hills are?
Don't you just want to pop down for the day on Sunday, just to see for yourself?
The weather will be great, possibly the last decent weekend this year? Twisted Evil Wink
Lukeee

I'd love to go to Surrey Hills with you chief , but i'm desperate to ride the home turf again , I've been to Glyncorrg then Chicksands and no Epping for 3 weeks now.

I need to hit High Beech! Swap around and come to Epping Sunday i think its gonna be a long'un

Maybe a Cru & Epics meetup ride should be mooted one Sunday, swapping some fave ST sections / finds.

We should all produce a map. I'm sure the cru rides different trails to the epics and vice versa. It'd be a great help for all new riders in Epping.
