Beastway - Week 3 - 7th June 2006

Results aren't up yet but I'm not looking forward to seeing them. I got there at 3PM (since I have nothing to do now) and helped put up the posts and tape. Saved myself £10 entry plus got myself a free case of hayfever and itchy legs from the overgrown grass. Went to Victoria Park to have a nap before the race and on the way back to the track met (...another...) Australian guy who thought I sounded like a New Zealander. Track and weather conditions were perfect, not a wet spot at all and a lap distance of around 3.2 miles (5.1km). It was so dry and dusty that I managed to fall over while standing still on my two feet on one of the hills! It was a great cruisy ride and probably the most fun track layout so far with fun downhill sections and no grinding uphills.
I think Mick beat me last night. Unfortunately, I can't think of any excuses.

A story about cycling in today's Daily Telegraph.

Results are up here.

Mick kicked my arse over the four laps, beating me by 25 seconds overall but I don't understand the ranking system as I'm placed 2 positions higher than him.

Hi Leon

I think that because Mick started after you he finished after you, so that explains the order of things in the race listing.

I am missing it - really! Smile

Quality updates

Nice one Leon,

I checked out the race photo's last week and see that you have two pic's on the board - good effort mate. Also first class ride report for the welsh expidition... somehow you even managed to make the pissers look arty!

Was gutted to miss out last night but didn't get home from work till gone 7pm and knew that i wasn't going to get down there before the registration closed. Again you and Mick gett he MTB die hard award this week for your stirling effort.

Hopefully see you this weekend for a ride.

Dan
