I've read a few articles on spd setups and they seem to be a good step to take to improve my riding. Before I invest some cash what are peoples opinions? Do most of you guys ride with spd or similar setups?

Rob,

I have ridden with SPD for the last 9 years or so, and now hate riding without them. You need to take a bit of time to get used to clipping in and out, and YOU WILL FORGET one day just at the wrong part of the ride. We have alll had comedy moments where you forget that you and your bike are one.

I feel it improves your power when riding as you get power on both the down stroke as normal but also on the other leg pulling up.

As to which make thats probably a personal choice I currently use Time pedals but am thinking of changing to Egg beaters purely for the mud clearing, and my Times are looking old and tired!

Hope that helps

Thanks for the advice, I think I will have to invest in some pretty soon. I'm definitely planning on coming out with you guys one Sunday in March. I will let you know.
Cheers
